Descent is via Archibald Buchanan of Auchintorlie and Hillington, son of George Buchanan of Buchanan House Glasgow ( see Burkes landed Gentry Garrick-Buchanan of Drumpellier The arms recorded in Lyon Register show the following blazon Or, a lion rampant,sable. between two otter;s heads erased in chief proper, and a cinquefoil in base of the second, all within the Royal tressure of the last.
