Andrew Buchanan of Ardenconnel in the Parish of Dumbarton was the second son of Archibald Buchanan of Silverbank who was a grandson of Andrew Buchanan of Gartachairn.
The arms are recorded in Lyon Register Volume 1, Page 558, 27 September 1791.
THE ARMS: Or, a lion rampant Sable, between two otter's heads erased in chief Proper and a cinquefoil in base of the second, all within a double tressure flory counterflory of the Last.
THE CREST: An armed dexter hand holding a cap of dignity Purpure facing Ermine. THE MOTTO: 'Nunquam Victus' ( Never conquered ) |
