IF YOU HAVE BEEN VIEWING OUR HERALDRY SITE AND WOULD LIKE TO
LEARN A LITTLE MORE ABOUT MY FAMILY AND ME, PLEASE READ ON.
My wife Robin and I live in New Zealand. Our property lies approximately 35 minutes drive North of Auckland on the hills overlooking the Kaipara Harbour and the Kaipara river valley. The small town of Helensville lies to our north, about 10 minutes by car.
Our youngest son Mark, and his son Jack live with us. Our eldest son Iaan lives in Auckland city with his son Oliver.
Robin is a district nurse working in the surrounding area, and I am retired.
Our property is 3.5 acres and has several stands of native trees mainly Kauri and Rimu scattered around, giving a park like feel to the eastern part of the garden.
Both Robin and I are keen gardeners and Mark seems to have caught the greenfingers bug as well. The western slopes of the property, overlooking the valley, and with views to die for, is fully landscaped and includes a small area which has been turned into an amphitheatre, and where is season, we hold classical concerts with local artists and invited guests from Auckland and surrounding areas. Our garden won the local garden competiton in 2001 for the best country garden. New Zealand has a population of about 3.8 million with most of this population in the Auckland province. Auckland City being by far the largest city with around 1.5 million people of all nationalities. The indigenous people ( Maori ) make up arounf 1/3 of the total population of the country.
Our climate is temperate and in the northern regions, classified as sub tropical. Our own property is most certainly sub tropical and we can grow plants which originate in the tropical and subtropical zones of the world.
